From Florence, the journey takes around 2.5 hours by train, typically changing in La Spezia or Pisa.

From Pisa

If you are coming from Pisa, the trip is even shorter. Direct trains to La Spezia take about one hour, making Pisa a convenient starting point for visiting the Cinque Terre villages.

Once you reach La Spezia, simply board the Cinque Terre Express train, which runs frequently between Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso.

Can You Drive to Cinque Terre?

The first time we visited Cinque Terre, we actually tried to drive directly between the villages. Since we live in Milan, driving felt like the most natural option at first. But once we reached the coastal roads, it quickly became clear why most travelers avoid driving here.

The roads are extremely narrow, winding, and often crowded, and parking is very limited in villages like Vernazza and Manarola.
